How we use Sustainable fuels in our Jenvey Gunn Development Car
With 3 race weekends (6 races) in 30 days the start of the season was always going to be busy especially when one weekend overlapped with my Son’s first Junior kart race, our first owner driver event.
Added to all of that was running sustainable fuel in anger for the first time.

Building a new engine for had been progressing well from late 2023, until a blow up at Donington mid 2024, forced us the steal the new engine bottom end for a quick turnaround for the next race. The engine was finished mid 25 and then fitted over the winter. We made no specific concessions for the new fuel and in fact increased the compression ratio by 0.2
The previous engine gave 312 BHP on the Northampton rolling road on its second visit in 2022 after lots of fettling / tuning / etc.
After running in, mapping idle and WOT the new engine gave 320BHP on pump fuel. We switched to Sustain C50 with the very first run giving 320BHP. The plan was to map the engine fully on sustainable fuel and then come back and increase spark / optinise fueling / etc. on the new fuel. Due to an exhaust crack this never happened.
The fuel did however prove is credentials in race trim as we took 4 poles, 4 wins and 4 fastest laps from the first 4 races. The remaining 2 races at Silverstone Historic GP circuit saw us suffering a mechanical failure in race one and a clash with a fellow competitor whilst leading. The comeback to 4th saw us lapping 3 seconds faster than anyone else despite slightly compromised aero. Overall the fuel has been superb. We have not been pumping it out between races just filling and handling it like normal fuel, BUT BETTER!
